Don’t get me wrong I love donuts (and I’m getting some on Thursday shh), but I want to talk about the baked donut. My mom was looking at a recipe for  baked donuts and while watching her write it got me thinking; the baked donut is a lie. When you see the word ‘baked donut’ you might think “wow, this is healthier than a normal donut because it’s not deep fried” but really aren’t you now just eating a round cake with a chunk taken out of the middle? Are you really being any healthier? And then what defines a donut – is it still a donut if it’s baked?

My intent is not to hate on donuts or those who make these wonderful creations, but it’s interesting how one word can change how you think of something.
